NEW legislation requires Enterprise Zone (EZ) businesses to obtain pre-certification PRIOR to engaging in any activity to earn an EZ tax credit starting January 1, 2012. Go to Enterprise Zone page for more information.
Southwest Colorado County and Regional Data Updated
Region 9 has updated their Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy's (CEDS) county and regional data and strategic planning pieces.
For each county, and the region as a whole, there is data presented relating to population, infrastructure, county government, county revenues, land use, transportation issues, services, labor force, employment and income by sector, employment and income trends from 1980 to 2009 (latest year available). New to the 2011 report is information on economic drivers (also called economic clusters) and livable wages for each county.
Region 9 Report Updated
Just released (December 2011) is the updated Region 9 Report. This document presents a snapshot of some of the significant aspects and trends of the regional economy. This Report summarizes demographic and economic information for the region as a whole, and for each of the individual counties.
Livable Wage Report
Region 9 has released their latest livable wages for the communities throughout southwest Colorado which shows the cost of living has dropped since December 2008. Region 9 has estimated livable wages since 1999, and seven of the ten municipalities show a decrease in their livable wage.
