Jon Callender, PhD., and Amy Long have joined the Region 9 Economic Development Districtís Business Loan Fund (BLF) Committee.
Callender has broad experience in academia, consulting, community development and business. Callender provides geological and environmental consulting through his business, Callender Enterprises. A Montezuma county resident since 2005, he received his Ph.D. from Harvard University. He most recently served on the Montezuma Planning Commission.
Long said it has been her lifelong dream to live in a Colorado mountain town and moved to Durango in 2005. She is a business owner, purchasing Schluter Floral in 2005 and Aprilís Garden in 2008. She serves on the board of Local First and is President of the Board.
The Loan Committee is composed of two representatives from each of the five counties in southwest Colorado, plus two at-large positions with at least one person with loan making experience, one person with an accounting background, one person with a real estate background and two with a background in business. The term on the loan committee is two years, but there is no limit to the number of terms a committee person may serve. The members are appointed by the Region 9 Board of Directorís Executive Committee.
