Joe Keck, long-time Montezuma resident, business owner, and Director of the Southwest Colorado Small Business Development Center, has been named the Economic Development Leader of the Year by the Region 9 Economic Development District (Region 9) Board of Directors.
Keck has served the entire southwest region for 8 years in his position with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and is also the co-owner of Susie’s Hallmark in Cortez. Keck’s experience also includes economic development positions at the Ute Mountain Ute and Southern Ute Indian Tribes. His commitment to the communities where his clients are located has always been very important.
Ed Morlan, executive director of Region 9 EDD said, “Joe focuses on the positive and the possible when consulting with entrepreneurs and business owners. The time and energy that he devotes to each of the clients he works with is astounding and invaluable. I have had many people tell me over the years that Joe and the SBDC helped save their businesses.”
Keck was recognized at the Montezuma Community Economic Development Association membership meeting January 14th.
The Economic Development Leader of the Year award honors individuals for their achievement and commitment as leaders in economic and community development efforts. The award was first given in 2001.
